Welcome!
Important knowledge gaps remain in our understanding of the processes underlying biological invasions, despite an extensive body of research dedicated to this phenomenon. Highly-debated topics in invasion ecology could benefit from a macroecological perspective. In the MEC Lab, we aim to provide novel insights into highly-debated invasion questions by approaching these questions through a macroecological lens. We use a broad variety of statistical and computational methods and large datasets to study continental-scale and cross-scale processes of invasion, as well as of other socioecological conservation challenges.
Great news for the MEC Lab! Our PI was selected as one of the 2024 Walder Foundation Biota Awardees. We're excited for this work to come to life!
WE'RE HIRING! If you're interested in being a postdoc in the MEC Lab, please contact Dr. Nunez-Mir via email (gnm@uic.edu).
